SKODA AUTO: SALES FIGURES GREW AGAIN IN JULY

Skoda Auto continued growing in July 2010. The number of vehicles delivered to customers from the beginning of this year has been increasing constantly, reaching 437,260 as at 31 July, 2010, i.e., 13.4 % more than last year. In July alone, Skoda sold 58,513 cars, i.e., 4.8 % more than in July 2009.

SKODA AUTO ACHIEVES RECORD SALES IN THE FIRST HALF-YEAR OF 2010

·    378,747 vehicles delivered to customers
·    Worldwide growth ahead 15% from January to June 2010

In the first half-year of 2010, Skoda Auto has reached a new sales record with 378,747 vehicles sold worldwide. This means that sales numbers have increased about 15 percent compared to same period of last year. In June alone, 71,320 customers decided to purchase a Skoda (+ 8.3 percent).

SKODA AUTO PRODUCES ITS HUNDRED THOUSANDTH 1.2 TSI ENGINE


Skoda Auto produced its hundred thousandth 1.2 TSI engine only a few months after the launch of its production in the engine and transmission manufacturing plant in Mlad? Boleslav. In reaction to a massive demand for this unit that is available in the Fabia, the Roomster, the Octavia and the Yeti plus some other models of the VW Group brands, Skoda has increased its production to 1,250/day. The production of this engine is going to continue even throughout the upcoming company-wide holiday. Besides assembly, Skoda’s main plant also performs the engine block casting and machine-works some of the key components.

MAY WAS ANOTHER RECORD-BREAKING MONTH FOR SKODA AUTO

Skoda Auto’s sales in May continued growing to reach 65,349 vehicles (+10 % as compared with last year), a new sales record and the best May result in the company’s history. The total sales since the beginning of 2010 have thus grown by 16.6 % to 307,427 vehicles. The Chinese market has again contributed a great deal to the overall figures – Skoda sold 14,162 cars in China in May to reach altogether 68,977 vehicles sold over the first five months of this year.

SKODA MAINTAINS GROWTH

The growth of overall sales at Skoda Auto, the Czech Republic?s largest car manufacturer, continued also in April. The number of vehicles delivered to customers from the beginning of this year grew to 242,078 (+18.6 %). In April alone, the company sold 63,177 vehicles (3.5% more than in April 2009).

The most important factor behind Skoda?s growing sales is the Chinese market where the deliveries in April amounted to 12,108 vehicles, an increase of 31.4 % as compared with the same period of last year. Skoda also did well in other markets – the sales in overseas regions grew by 65.6 %, and by 7.7 % in Eastern Europe, despite the difficult situation. In Western Europe (exclusive of Germany), Skoda?s results were 38 % better as compared with last year.

SKODA AUTO PRESENTS MODEL YEAR 2011

·       High-pressure common rail technology
·       Yeti to be fitted with a new 1.4 TSI (90 kW)
·       Superb and Superb Combi to be fitted with a new 2,0 TSI (147 kW)

As part of its model care, Skoda Auto is presenting a number of changes for 2011, particularly in the engine portfolio. The new units are based on the modern common rail technology that is going to replace the older PD system (pump-jet), and the manufacturer is also going to offer a wider variety of TSI engines (petrol). The trims in the respective model lines have been enhanced as well – design changes involve selected radios and interior controls. The smallest model line, i.e., the Roomster, Fabia and Fabia Combi, has already come up with numerous changes as part of its recent facelift.

SKODA AUTO AT THE 29TH GTI WORTHERSEE 2010

·       Skoda Auto’s first appearance at the GTI Worthersee tuning event

Skoda Auto is going to appear at the GTI tuning event at the Austrian lake W?rthersee over 12 – 15 May, 2010 with tuned Fabia RS+ & Octavia RS+ vehicles plus two Fabia Super 2000 race cars. Designed by Skoda Auto designers, the display cars will be used to present special optical packets and colour adaptations based on self-adhesive foils.

SKODA TO START FULL-CYCLE PRODUCTION OF THE NEW FABIA IN RUSSIA


Skoda Auto Russia announced launch of a full-cycle production of the new Skoda Fabia in the frame of the Russian premiere of the car that took place on April 28 at Kaluga factory. Skoda Fabia became the second model in Skoda line-up to be produced in full-cycle including welding, painting and assembly. Previous version of Fabia has been built at Kaluga factory by SKD. The first model to be shifted to a CKD-production became Skoda Octavia.

SKODA AUTO AT THE BEIJING MOTOR SHOW

* Launch of the facelifted Octavia MingRui in China
* Octavia MingRui – the most popular Skoda for the Chinese market
* Skoda Auto expects significant growth in sales in the Chinese market

The most important China-based motor show this year is going to see the official launch of the facelifted Octavia MingRui in the Chinese market. The Octavia MingRui was the first product of Skoda’s portfolio manufactured in the Shanghai Volkswagen plant. Just like in other countries worldwide, the Octavia is Skoda’s best-selling model, accounting for about 70 % of the manufacturer’s successful sales record in China. The car’s market share in its class is currently over 2 %. The Octavia MingRui has been available in China since June 2007, and more than 85,000 cars were sold last year alone. Furthermore, the Shanghai Volkswagen plant has been manufacturing the Fabia JingRui since 2008 and the brand’s flagship Superb HaoRui since 2009.
