Nissan Production, Sales, Export Results for April 2010

YOKOHAMA Japan (May. 28, 2010) – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for April, 2010.

1. Production

Nissan’s global production in April increased 57.0% year-on-year to 319,673 units marking an all-time record for the month of April.

Production in Japan increased 73.5% year-on-year to 86,180 units due to increased output of the export models.

Production outside of Japan saw an increase of 51.7% year-on-year to 233,493 units marking an all-time record for the month of April.

SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY COMES TO UNITED STATES WITH DEDICATION OF NISSAN LEAF PRODUCTION SITE


- Lithium-ion battery & 100% electric vehicle production to begin in 2012 -

SMYRNA, Tenn. (May 26, 2010) – Nissan today broke ground on the project that brings Nissan LEAF production to the United States. The groundbreaking ceremony marks the start of construction on a manufacturing facility in Smyrna, Tenn., that will produce the lithium-ion batteries that power the Nissan LEAF zero-emission vehicle. The all-electric Nissan LEAF will be produced at Nissan’s vehicle assembly facility in Smyrna beginning in 2012.

Nissan Introduces Quick EV Charger

YOKOHAMA (May 21, 2010) – Nissan Motor Co. announced today that it is commencing sales of Nissan-developed quick chargers through its regional parts sales affiliates in preparation for the December release of its Nissan LEAF, the all new zero emission car.

Nissan developed the quick charger in-house, applying its R&D expertise accumulated in development of EVs and related plant equipment which already installed its EV production plants. This gives the quick charger a competitive pricing advantage at the manufacturer’s preferred price of 1.47 million yen.

Nissan Announce April Sales Results in Europe

ROLLE, Switzerland (May 6, 2010) – Nissan in Europe has reported sales of  44,347 units in April, representing an increase of 17% year on year with a market share of 2.9%. TIV decreased by 5% versus April 2009. Although the TIV in France, UK and Spain are above last year and these markets were strong in April, Germany and Italy TIV were below last year’s levels at 30% and 15% respectively.
