Demand for Remote Start Increases 20 Percent at Chrysler Group LLC
More and More Drivers Start Car from Afar
* Remote Start available on Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge and Ram vehicles through Mopar
Auburn Hills, Mich., Nov. 30, 2009 -
Drivers, remote-start your engines.
More and more Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge and Ram customers are adding the ultra-convenient Remote Start feature to their vehicles. In 2009, Mopar sales for Remote Start are up 20 percent.
Nearly 90 percent of Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram vehicles are available with Remote Start. Those customers who want to add the feature after purchase, or who buy a used vehicle without Remote Start, will turn to Mopar for the feature.
“Remote Start is becoming less of a luxury and more of a necessity,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and Chief Executive Officer, Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care. “As we head into winter and the holiday gift-giving season, we expect even more of our customers to warm up to Remote Start.”
Drivers with Remote Start may start their vehicle from up to 300 feet away, allowing the engine to warm up and the interior of the vehicle to heat or cool based on the pre-set temperature. The engine will stay on for 10 minutes and will shut off if a key is not inserted into the ignition.
Unlike other aftermarket offerings, Mopar’s Remote Start system utilizes proven, quality-tested factory components and is seamlessly integrated into the vehicle without any splicing or cutting of existing wires. In addition, Mopar integrates and combines the function into one key fob, eliminating the need for excess fobs. Remote Start is fully covered under the vehicle’s bumper-to-bumper new-vehicle warranty or Mopar’s 12-month/12,000-mile limited warranty, whichever is most advantageous to the customer.
Remote Start is available on 2008-2010 model-year Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram vehicles. Depending on the vehicle, the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) ranges from $235 to $299, plus installation. The installation process takes approximately one hour and may be done at any Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram store.

Mopar (a simple contraction of the words MOtor and PARts) was trademarked for a line of antifreeze products in 1937. It also was widely used as a moniker for the CMPC. The Mopar brand made its mark in the 1960’s – the muscle-car era. The Chrysler Corporation built race-ready Dodge and Plymouth “package cars” equipped with special high-performance parts. Mopar carried a line of “special parts” for super stock drag racers and developed its racing parts division called Mopar Performance Parts in order to enhance speed and handling for both road and racing use.

‘Big Daddy’ Don Garlits to Return to NHRA Drag Racing in a Dodge Challenger Drag Pak by Mopar® at Mac Tools U.S. Nationals
Garlits will make his first appearance in organized drag racing in six years
Center Line, Mich., Aug 31, 2009 - “Big Daddy” Don Garlits is making a comeback to NHRA competition for the first time since 2003, driving his Dodge Challenger Drag Pak by Mopar® into the heat of NHRA Stock eliminations at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals on Labor Day weekend. His historic first run in the Drag Pak will be on Wednesday, Sept. 2, in A/Stock Automatic qualifying at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis. The full U.S. Nationals event is scheduled to begin Sept. 2 with final eliminations on Monday, Sept. 7.
Garlits hung up his helmet after Top Fuel qualifying at the U.S. Nationals exactly six years ago in 2003. He last ran a stock class car in 1963 when he competed in a 1963 Dodge Max Wedge drag package car carrying “Garlits Dodge” graphics. His new Dodge Challenger Drag Pak by Mopar has the same lettering emblazoned on its sides, along with the same Mopar graphics from his historic run last year alongside “Miss Mighty Mopar” Judy Lilly in Drag Pak prototypes at the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals.
“I like my Dodge Challenger Drag Pak much better than a dragster,” said Garlits, referring to the current way Top Fuel dragsters are campaigned. “It takes 25 people to get a dragster to the line these days. All I have to do with the Dodge Challenger is turn the key and take it there. When the light turns green I have a ten-second ride—which is almost three times what I used to get—and I even have time to look at the tach and shift gears.”
“Big Daddy’s” 2009 Dodge Challenger is the first Drag Pak by Mopar ever made. He took delivery at the Performance Racing Industry show in December 2008, receiving the keys along with a certificate of authenticity from Mopar. Garlits put the Drag Pak by Mopar through test and exhibition runs at the World Series of Drag Racing at Cordova Dragway Park in Cordova, Ill., last weekend.
Garlits retired for the first time in 1987, but returned for one race at Atlanta in 1992 and made a 300-mph run at the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis in 2001. He then ran a limited schedule of four NHRA National events each year in 2002 and 2003 before he stepped out of Top Fuel at the request of his wife, Pat. “I didn’t want to come home and find my clothes all over the front yard,” he said at the time he acquired his new Dodge Challenger, explaining that he had the home-front green light to run a doorslammer in competition, referring to his Drag Pak vehicle.
Garlits statistics
• 17 World Championship Titles and 144 National event wins
• Voted #1 Drag Racer for the past 50 years by the NHRA in 2001
• Won the prestigious U.S. Nationals eight times
• Car Craft Magazine Top Fuel Driver of the Year: 1969-70, 1972-73, 1975-78 & 1986
• Car Craft Magazine “Man of the Year”: 1969, 1971-73
• American Hot Rod Association “Fuel Driver of the Year”: 1971-74

2. Nissan providing to Chrysler a small vehicle for global markets beginning in 2010.

Auburn Hills, Mich., Jul 31, 2009 -
Chrysler Group LLC announced today that production of the Chrysler PT Cruiser will continue. The Chrysler Group Toluca (Mexico) Assembly Plant—the exclusive home of Chrysler PT Cruiser—will continue to build the quality-proven, versatility packaged and “too cool to categorize” small car.
“The heritage-styled Chrysler PT Cruiser continues to be a global success story,” said Peter Fong – President and Chief Executive Officer – Chrysler Brand and Lead Executive for the Sales Organization, Chrysler Group LLC. “With more than 1.3 million PT Cruisers sold in more than 60 countries since 2000, we’re excited to announce we’re re-energizing the iconic and award-winning PT Cruiser.”
The Chrysler Group changed the landscape of the automotive market when it introduced the segment-busting Chrysler PT Cruiser nearly 10 years ago. High-quality, craftsmanship, performance and functionality continue to give the award-winning Chrysler PT Cruiser a leg up on the competition. For years, leading consumer magazines and third-party studies have recommended the PT Cruiser for its consistently high levels of quality and refinement—tying for first place in J.D. • 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser, Consumer Reports “Recommended”

Chrysler Group LLC Announces New “Double CA$H For Your Old Car” Incentive Program
* Every consumer shopping for a new vehicle qualifies
* Consumers can receive up to $4,500 for the purchase of an eligible, new 2009 Model Year Chrysler, Jeep® or Dodge vehicle
* Chrysler Group incentive is in addition to the U.S. Government “CARS” program. Consumers with an eligible trade-in under the CARS program can receive up to $9,000 towards the purchase of an eligible new Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge vehicle
Auburn Hills, Mich., Jul 22, 2009 - Chrysler Group LLC today announced new incentives, “Double CA$H for Your Old Car,” that can save consumers up to $9,000 toward the purchase of a new Chrysler, Jeep® or Dodge vehicle.
“Everyone shopping for a new car or truck qualifies for an incentive of up to $4,500 – even if they don’t have a vehicle that qualifies under the U.S. Government’s program,” said Steven Beahm, Vice President – Sales Operations, Chrysler Group LLC. “This incentive is great in that it’s easy to understand and available to everyone.”
Beginning July 23, 2009, Chrysler Group LLC will offer up to $4,500 Consumer Cash or 0 percent financing for 72 months through GMAC Financial Services on most 2009 model vehicles. These incentives are valid through August 31, 2009.
July 23, 2009 also marks the start of the U.S. Government’s Car Allowance Rebate Systems (CARS) program, more commonly known as “cash for clunkers.” The CARS program offers a government credit of either $3,500 or $4,500 for trading in an inefficient vehicle that is not more than 25 years old for the purchase of a new vehicle. The amount of the credit is determined based on the fuel-economy improvement between the turn-in vehicle and the new vehicle purchased.
“The administration’s program is aimed at getting less fuel-efficient vehicles off the road, and for vehicles that meet the requirements, offers a great incentive to do so,” Beahm said. “But we didn’t want consumers without qualifying vehicles to feel left out so we are offering up to $4,500 to everyone.”
Chrysler Group offers consumers 35 Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles from which to choose at almost 2,400 Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealerships located across the United States.

Chrysler Statement in Response to House Appropriations Committee Action
Auburn Hills, Mich., Jul 9, 2009 - Chrysler used sound business judgment during the bankruptcy process to determine the appropriate size for its dealer network. Annual new vehicle sales have declined roughly 40 percent in the last 2 years, which leaves Chrysler at a level that cannot support the previous size dealer network.
Chrysler continues to work with discontinued dealers on issues related to redistribution of inventory, parts and special tools.
The reorganization under the guidance of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court necessitated that tough, painful business decisions be made, including reducing the number of manufacturing facilities, employees and dealers. These decisions were not taken lightly, nor were they made irrationally. The opinion of the Court that approved Chrysler’s motion to reject certain dealer agreements affirmed the necessity of reducing the size of the company’s dealer network and the rationale used to determine what dealer contracts were rejected.
The intent of legislation such as H.R. 2743 would jeopardize the viability of the new company.
