Munich. Startingin the autumn of 2010, the product range of the BMW M GmbH will offer even greater diversity. From September 2010, the M Performance range will comprise a choice of newly developed accessory products for targeted individualisation and a further increase in the BMW M3’s dynamic handling potential, including hand-crafted carbon components and a lightweight sports silencer. At the same time, the experience of driving a BMW X5 M and a BMW X6 M will be optimised thanks to new equipment options and additional innovative BMW ConnectedDrive services.

Munich. The BMW Group has ended the first half-year with substantial growth in sales. A total of 696,026 (prev. yr. 615,454) BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brand automobiles were delivered to customers worldwide in the first six months of the year – an increase of 13.1%. In June, sales volumes rose 12.2% to 143,157 (prev. yr. 127.556) vehicles. The company made gains in virtually all markets during the first half-year, with sales in China, the American and European markets in particular reporting the strongest growth. On the product side, the BMW X1, 5 Series GT and Z4 models, together with the BMW 7 Series, were among the main growth drivers in the first half of the year. The new BMW 5 Series Sedan also got off to a strong start – roughly 25,000 models have already been sold since its European launch in mid-March.

The BMW M5 ends its production lifespan with a new record high
Munich. After being on sale on the global automotive market for five successful years, the BMW M5 has ended its production lifespan with a new record high. The BMW M GmbH produced a total of 20,548 of the charismatic high-performance sports car featuring a V 10-cylinder power unit. The BMW M5 Saloon is accountable for 19,523 of these, with the BMW M5 Touring, which was first launched in 2007, contributing a further 1025 units towards the overall result. This means that even the production figures of the predecessor model, which was manufactured for a period of six years, have been surpassed. The BMW M GmbH sees this record result as a further chapter in the success story of a remarkable automobile, which reaches back as far as the year 1984. 26 years ago we saw the launch of the first BMW M5 – this also marking the birth of the high-performance saloon segment.

A new diversity of efficient driving pleasure: The BMW model range from the autumn of 2010
Munich . Starting in the autumn of 2010, extensive additions to the engine portfolio and the equipment range for a large number of model series will bring about a further increase in the diversity of the BMW model range. Following its successful launch, the new BMW 5 Series Sedan can, as from September 2010, also be equipped for the first time with intelligent four-wheel drive technology BMW xDrive. The electronically controlled four-wheel drive system will be featured in the BMW 550i xDrive Sedan, which is powered by an eight-cylinder engine. The BMW 535d Sedan offers a further choice of engines. The new top-of-the-range diesel version from the series is powered by a 220 kW/300 bhp straight six-cylinder engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo, which will also be available for the BMW 5 Series Touring as from September 2010. The car’s engine portfolio will also be complemented by two further engine variants immediately following its market launch. In addition to the BMW 535d Touring, we will also see the arrival of the BMW 525d Touring (150 kW/204 bhp) and the BMW 528i Touring (190 kW/258 bhp) in the autumn of 2010.

BMW Performance Carbon Fiber Aerodynamic Components for M3
Woodcliff Lake, NJ – June 28, 2010… BMW of North America has announced three BMW Performance aerodynamic accessories for the M3 Coupe, Sedan, and Convertible. The new rear deck lid spoiler[1], mirror caps, and front splitters are constructed of ultra-rigid carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) composite material, matching the standard CFRP roof panel of the M3 Coupe. Each component is shaped based on advanced research conducted in one of BMW’s Munich-based wind tunnels. This ensures compatibility with the overall aerodynamic “signature” of the M3, serving to reduce lift and minimize drag. Such characteristics are appropriate to enhance the vehicle’s high-speed stability while maintaining fuel efficiency.

BMW extends office functions to include incoming e-mail with voice output

As part of the ongoing expansion of office functions in BMW ConnectedDrive, BMW is now the first automobile manufacturer in the world to enable e-mail messages to be received inside the vehicle enabled by a Bluetooth connection. From autumn 2010, owners of a BlackBerry® smartphone made by the mobile phone manufacturer RIM (Research In Motion) will be able to access the phone’s e-mail function via the operating system iDrive. A new Bluetooth interface to integrate the BlackBerry device into the vehicle enables e-mails to be received, displayed on the Control Display and even read out by means of an optional voice output function. With this innovative technology, the premium automobile manufacturer continues to extend its leading role in the integration of entertainment, communication and online functions in vehicles.
