The stage is set for the next big Audi: In a ceremony attended by Belgian Prime Minister Yves Leterme and Minister-President of the Brussels Capital Region Charles Picqu?, the official starting signal for production of the Audi A1 was given by Professor Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of AUDI AG, and Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG. The event at the Audi plant in Brussels served as a showcase for presentation of the new Audi model, which will be manufactured in the Belgian capital.

For the fourth year in a row, AUDI AG will have its own stand at the GTI meet at the W?rthersee and is once again expecting Audi fans from throughout Europe. The new Audi A1 is playing a leading role at the 29th W?rthersee Tour (May 12 – 15) in Reifnitz (Carinthia), Austria. Innovative adhesive film designs, vibrant paint finishes as well as exterior add-on parts and a matching interior will transform a total of seven models of the new compact car into spectacular motto vehicles. Furthermore, the Audi R8 GT, a limited-production version of the high-performance sports car, will be presented to the general public for the first time at W?rthersee shortly after its world premiere.

Now even more powerful, lighter and faster: Audi presents a limited-production version of it R8 high-performance sports car, the R8 GT. The output of its 5.2-liter V10 has been increased to 412 kW (560 hp); vehicle weight has been reduced by roughly 100 kilograms (220.46 lb). The R8 GT accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 320 km/h (198.84 mph).

AUDI AG is looking to invest in renewable sources of energy. In support of this goal, Audi this week signed an agreement with the international consortium “Desertec Industrial Initiative”. The long-term goal of the joint venture is the climate-friendly production of energy in the deserts of North Africa and the Middle East. As an associated partner, Audi will initially work to create the right conditions and to establish the necessary infrastructure.

Iron Man 2 drives an Audi R8 Spyder

Robert Downey Jr. has returned to his role as the ingenious engineer and superhero Iron Man. The world premiere of Iron Man 2 took place on Monday in Los Angeles. Along with Robert Downey Jr., several other big names accompanied director Jon Favreau down the red carpet, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke, Don Cheadle, Sam Rockwell, Samuel L. Jackson – and right in the centre of things, the Audi R8 Spyder. Robert Downey Jr. arrived for the premiere at the El Capitan Theatre in the supercar. It was a scene straight out of the Marvel Studios movie, in which main character Tony Stark drives the open-top two-seater.

Audi sells most all-wheel-drive vehicles worldwide

* In Germany, too, Audi is top of all-wheel-drive market segment
No other premium car manufacturer sells as many vehicles with all-wheel drive throughout the world as does Audi. Last year the Ingolstadt-based carmaker built 316,824 cars with quattro drive. This means that around a third of all the Audi cars leaving the factory in 2009 were equipped with this successful technology. Top seller among the all-wheel-drive models last year was the Audi Q5, with 109,117 produced.

The Audi Q7: new engines and eight-speed transmission for power and efficiency
The Q7 is the large Audi for the sporty individualist – the high-performance SUV for sport, leisure, family and business. Now Audi has made it even more powerful and efficient, with a choice of three new V6 engines and an 8-speed tiptronic transmission.
Engines: a new range
Even more power, even higher efficiency: Audi has revised the engine lineup for the Q7. The two gasoline engines, both V6 units but with different power outputs, are new, and so is the second-generation V6 TDI. A mighty V8 diesel completes the range. All the engines for the Q7 combine two technologies: forced induction and direct fuel injection. A high-performance recuperation system that recovers energy during braking is also a standard item with all six- and eight-cylinder engines.
