2010 ADAC Cruze Cup: Motorsport for everyone
Race-prepped Cruze Revealed at Motorsport Arena, Oschersleben
ZURICH – OSCHERSLEBEN, 12th October 2009 – After a successful introduction of the Chevrolet Cruze in the World Touring Car Championship, the ADAC Weser-Ems will adopt a newly developed race-spec version of the same car to keep up with the growth in popularity and competition in its in-house series, whilst keeping value and excitement in its sight.
Chevrolet’s successes in the WTCC and the vast amounts of knowledge and data collected from the track made it an easy decision to offer the same platform for the racing enthusiasts of the ADAC. On the weekend of October 10th – 11th,the ADAC presented the Cruze Cup at the Motorsports Arena in Oschersleben.
The Clubsport events, which have been taking place since 2006 with the motto “Motorsport for everyone,” have been the ADAC’s solution to bringing its 16 million plus members closer and more together. The concept was to do so by giving their members the possibility to enter with friends and family into very affordable and low-maintenance, yet highly exciting and competitive amateur long-distance racing events.
Keeping in ties with the philosophy of the ADAC Weser-Ems Clubsport events, a new track-ready version has been developed: the Cruze Cup. It will provide its owners with a fantastic experience based on high performance for great value. At Euros 17,500 (plus 19% VAT, or 15,750 + 19% VAT for those enlisted through ADAC Weser-Ems for the 2020 ADAC Cruze Cup), the Cruze Cup is an affordable platform, with basic mechanics that yield a practical package for its owners who won’t require extensive racing experience to maintain or run the vehicles.
To prepare the car to DMSB / ADAC-specified regulations, Wiechers Motorsport has been contracted. Wiechers GmbH is a German company with much experience and expertise in the field of preparing cars for racing, who are also competing successfully in the World Touring Car Championship. Their many years in motorsports has helped them to prepare a special roll-cage and aero & performance package yielding high performance and excitement while keeping things simple enough to run with limited experience.
Eric N?ve, Manager Motorsports at Chevrolet Europe: “We are extremely happy that the ADAC has chosen the Chevrolet Cruze as the car for its Clubsport events as we believe it best fits the values of their concept: “motorsports for everyone.”
The Cruze : breaking new grounds.
