On Tuesday 16 June, over 200 Dacia employees along with members of the management boards from the Assembly and Powertrain Plants took part to a waste collection action in the Budeasa forest, 10 km away from the industrial site. The volunteering project had the support of the Arges Environement Agency, of the Arges Environment Body, and of the Budeasa and Maracineni town halls.

The surface covering approximately 10 hectares is situated on each side of the road connecting the Pitesti-Campulung national road to the Pitesti-Bascov ring-road, and is therefore widely circulated and densely populated by the neighbouring communities. Dacia’s employees collected 5 tons of domestic waste which were later transported to the Domestic Waste Centre in Mioveni. Charles Morillo, the Manager of the Assembly Plant, and Jacques Eudeline, the Manager of the Powertrain Plant, members of the managing board, and heads of departments counted among the volunteers in  the project.

Dacia maintains its ecologic actions in the surrounding areas and rivers and thus manages to send a strong message to the local communities. The carmaker’s environmental actions will pursue at the level of partnerships with different NGOs and schools, and will remain open for social dialogue.

Dacia has recently started several tree-planting actions on Mioveni’s industrial site, as well as various actions aimed at raising environmental awareness of the public. The company has recently launched its Environmental Commitment Statement whereby the carmaker asserts its key role for a sustainable development.
